Preliminary Schedule:
The Festival starts with a series of preliminary slams across Phoenix and The Valley at various libraries, coffeehouses and elsewhere.. In order to reach the finals on April 26th, Teens will need to participate in one of these preliminaries.
The top 2 teens in each preliminary will be invited to the Finals...

Prizes:
Each preliminary winner will receive $25 in Bookman's Trade Credit. The Finals winner will receive $100 in credit. Additional prizes as will be given as available.
General Notes
* All events, including the finals. will be free and open to the public.
* Anthology, Inc. will serve as host and organizer of the event, with an Anthology representative onhand to coordinate the event.
* Poets are encoraged to invite friends, family and others to come and support them, and share in their expression.
The 2008 VOY event will have two components to it.
The Preliminary Slams
Interested poets should look to sign up for one of the preliminary events at one of the participating libraries (schedule here).
* Each of these events is a poetry slam of up to 15 poets.
* Each poet should have 3 original poems prepared.
* Their time limit for reading each poem is 3 minutes.
* Five members of the audience, chosen at random, will score each performance 1-10 (higher is better). Of the five scores, the lowest and the highest scores are dropped, and the three remaining scores are added together to compose that poet's score for that round.
* After the third round, the poet with the highest cumulative score is declared the winner.
The Finals
The top finishers from each of the preliminary events are invited to the Finals, to be held April 26th, 2008 at Bookman's Entertainment Exchange in Phoenix. This finals event will be the same format as the preliminary shows.
Poets may repeat their poems from the preliminary events to the Finals.
